Post Tension

Belfast Valley Contractors installs post-tensioned systems. Post-tensioned concrete construction somewhat varies from standard reinforced concrete construction. A post-tensioned beam or slab contains reinforcing “strands”, which drape inside the concrete changing their vertical location along the length of the member. When stressed, this tendon profile will straighten out creating an uplift load on the concrete, which reduces or removes the dead weight.

Specialized Cast-in-Place

Specialized Cast-in-Place concrete construction consists of shoring the area, installation of decking material and rebar and placing and finishing concrete per the job specifications. Belfast Valley Contractors has completed numerous Specialized Cast-in-Place projects including high-rise and parking superstructures and stadium seating.

Foundations

Foundations are the structural members which transmit the concentrated loads of the structure to the soil. These members come in various shapes and sizes and are generally constructed of steel-reinforced concrete. Foundations can consist of footings, pile caps or grade beams. Belfast Valley Contractors performs the excavation, installs the rebar and places the concrete.

Walls

Belfast Valley Contractors utilizes several types of wall form systems (aka panels), which are typically made of plywood and/or steel. These forms are set to create a mold in the desired shape of the wall. Rebar is placed inside the forms for reinforcement and concrete is poured. The forms are then removed or “stripped” when the concrete has achieved its specified strength.

Slab on Grade

A Slab on Grade is a reinforced concrete slab, resting directly on the ground, which serves as the foundation for the structure above. Belfast Valley Contractors verifies the subgrade, installs gravel, wire mesh, and vapor barrier as the project requires and places and finishes the concrete per the job specifications.

Slab on Metal Deck

Cast-In-Place concrete construction consists of shoring the area, installation of decking material and rebar and placing and finishing concrete per the job specifications. Hambro® Installations

Belfast Valley Contractors is recognized as one of the regions premier installers of the Hambro® D500™ composite floor system. This elevated floor system combines Hambro composite steel joists with a poured concrete slab.

Tilt-Up

In Tilt-Up construction, wall panel forms are assembled on the slab. They provide the panel’s exact shape and size along with any window openings and doorways. Reinforcing bars, inserts and embeds are installed as required and then the concrete is poured into the forms. The forms are then removed and the wall panels are raised into position around the buildings perimeter forming the exterior walls. Belfast Valley Contractors has extensive experience in Tilt-Up construction.
